Abi actively collaborates with numerous choirs and organisations, specialising in providing singing technique education through workshops and dedicated voice coaching sessions. Her expertise has been shared with established choirs such as the David Idowu Youth Choir and City of London Voices, and she has facilitated her own 'Finding Your Voice' Workshop for singers across London.
As a faculty member of the London School of Musical Theatre, Abi imparts her knowledge of singing techniques to aspiring musical theatre performers. Her vast vocal knowledge is also utilised often as a recognised singing 'expert,' contributing her insights on radio and TV.
Abi is sought after for her involvement in special projects with professional choirs, showcasing her skills in musical interpretation and as a conductor. Notably, she directed the CK Gospel Choir and collaborated with other voices to record a track for their Christmas Album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London.
Abi brings her expertise to the corporate world by facilitating Vocal Team Building sessions. She has innovatively designed singing activities tailored for corporate groups seeking a blend of fun and camaraderie in a 'choir' style setting. Whether accompanied by a live band or not, Abi ensures an engaging and enjoyable experience for participants as they learn and perform songs together.
UK SOUL CHOIRS
In 2010, Abi founded the UK Soul Choirs, a vibrant adult community choir that has since flourished into 14 branches across London and Kent, boasting a membership exceeding 500. The choir, under Abi's direction and conductorship, has graced renowned venues such as KOKO in Camden, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, the On Blackheath Festival, The Young Vic Theatre, and even made a live appearance on BBC Radio 3 and in the M&S Christmas Advert 2022.
Abi, along with her husband Ross Power, creates all the choral arrangements for the choirs. The repertoire is diverse, spanning classic soul hits from artists like Prince and The Temptations to contemporary soul and R&B gems from the likes of Sam Smith and Beyoncé.
